Monday Coleman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Boyd Family Funeral Home on Oct. 21, 2025.

A New Orleans native, Monday Lee Coleman, III, unexpectedly went on to Glory on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 32. Affectionately known to family and friends as Bug, he will forever be remembered for his huge heart, radiant smile, and the way he could light up any room just by walking into it. Bug was baptized at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church at an early age and later attended Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church alongside his grandmother, Genevive P. Coleman, whose love, and faith helped shape his own. Their Sundays together were filled with warmth, laughter, and prayer - memories that remain a cherished part of his story. He attended Sarah T. Reed High School, where his outgoing personality made him unforgettable. Bug later went on to work for FedEx, where his hard work and spirit left a lasting impression on his coworkers who loved him dearly. He lived life with style and soul. Bug loved to travel (with Las Vegas being one of his favorite getaways) and had a true passion for shopping, music, and fashion. Always the best-dressed in the room, he believed in staying fly from head to toe. But above all else, Bug adored his one and only niece, Talia (Tay-Tay), who brought him endless joy and filled his heart with pride. He likewise had great affection for Talia's sister, Terryell Brown, whom he loved and treated as his own niece. Family was everything to Bug. He loved being surrounded by his people, laughing loud, talking smack, playing Pitty Pat, and turning any gathering into a good time. No matter how big the crowd, Bug always brought the energy and that big, beautiful smile that would light up the whole room. Monday is survived by his loving father, Monday Lee Coleman, Jr., and his stepmother, Sheneka Coleman. His devoted sister and best friend, Monitra Coleman, his sister, Sanaa Cummings, his brother, Moni Coleman, and his stepbrothers, Quincy Cummings and Quintin Cummings, also hold his memory close to their hearts. Monday is lovingly remembered by his paternal grandparents, Monday Lee Coleman, Sr., and Genevive P. Coleman. He is fondly remembered by his beloved aunts-Rachel Washington, Jeanette Washington, Terry Coleman-Pete, and Monica Coleman-Lestrick-as well as his uncles, Alvin Washington and Anthony Washington-all of whom treasured Bug deeply and will forever carry his light in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Geraldine Washington-Coleman, and his maternal grandmother, Geraldine "Madea" Washington, who we know are waiting with open arms to welcome their son and grandson home. Bug will be deeply missed by his family, friends, co-workers, and everyone blessed enough to know him. His laughter, love, and unforgettable energy will live on in every memory, every smile, and every beat that still plays in the hearts of those who love him most. We will always love you, Bug. Rest in eternal peace, wrapped in God's loving arms. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, October 25, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 3721 N Claiborne Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Reverend Jonathan Smith, officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
