Monford A. "Monty" Forsythe Jr., 85, of West Liberty and formerly of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at 6:07 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023, in Green Hills Center in West Liberty, Ohio. He was born on October 9, 1937, in West Mansfield, Ohio, a son of the late Monford Arnold Forsythe Sr. and Madeline (Tackett) Forsythe-Kindle.
On December 25, 1958, Monty married Noreta Mae "Rita" (Wilson) Forsythe in Ada, Ohio and she survives, along with their four children, Monford A. (Debra) Forsythe III, Janine Francis, Gloria (Rick Pleiman) Craig, and John W. (Rhonda) Forsythe; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Martha (Daniel) Doak of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Monty was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Leeper; two brothers-in-law, Robert Frater, and Wayne Wilson, a son-in-law, Bradley Francis III; and a great granddaughter, Rylee Heffner.
Monty was an electrician and journeyman, retiring from both Copeland and Lima Tank Plant. He sold World Book Encyclopedias for several years. Monty was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved fishing, bowling, playing pool, and adored his family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Avenue in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio. The family requests that guests dress in casual attire.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Laymen’s Sunday school class, c/o Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
