Monica Filidei Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Malloy & Son Funeral Home - Galveston on Dec. 12, 2025.
We gather today to celebrate the life of Monica Robin Filidei, affectionately known to
her friends and family as Robin.
Born on November 26, 1961 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Robin passed away on
December 7th, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Robin was a fun-loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and a friend to all that knew her. She
was filled with warmth and affection and cherished by her husband of over 40 years,
Leon who always called her his Angel.
Her role as mother was one of her greatest joys. She was so proud of son Dustin
Hughes (and wife Rachel) and her daughter Candice Ennis and all their
accomplishments in life. Her love recently extended by getting to know her
stepdaughter Jodie McMillan and her husband Justin. Robin reveled in the laughter and
energy of her grandchildren Valerie, Arianna, Aurora, Tristian, Dillon, Lydia and Bella. She
was at her happiest being "Granny" and watching them grow.
Her mother, Jackland Rose, her sister Jamie Howard, her brother Tim and wife Barbara
Howard as well as her sister-in-law Renee Howard, will remember her zest for life and
fun-loving spirit. Robin joins her father James C Howard Jr and brother Randy Howard
in heaven and is now at peace.
Robin's life was a testament to her loving and adventurous nature. She had a passion
for the simple things in life – a sunny day at the beach, the thrill off winning a lottery
scratch off, a good Disney movie with a cold Pepsi, or a NASCAR race when her favorite
driver Richard Petty was behind the wheel! Her love for the New Orleans Saints was
shown each weekend as she cheered her team on! She loved listening to great rock
music and never missed seeing the Rolling Stones or a good concert whenever
possible.
As we say goodbye to Robin, we are reminded that to know Robin was to know love in
its purest form. She was the heart and soul of her family, a friend to all she met, and a
soul whose memory we will cherish and be celebrated for years to come. Her legacy is
one of Love, Laughter and the courage to embrace life's journey with an open heart and
adventurous spirit.
