Monica Reznicek

Monica Clara (Sykowski) Reznicek, age 92, passed away at home on 8/28/25, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Monica was born May 1, 1933, to Frank and Agnes Sykowski in Guy, Texas. Monica left the family farm and started her endeavors in retail, in Houston, where she met Emil Reznicek, Sr. They married January 19, 1957, and had 57 great years together. They moved to Sealy, where they settled in to raise their five children and called home. Monica then started what she loved most, working in the food industry and cooking for family and friends for years. She spent many years at the school district and then moved to Spring Branch Hospital, overseeing the dietary department for patients, where she was awarded employee of the month multiple times. Monica also supported her local church organizations, where she was overseeing the turkey and dressing fundraiser for the Catholic daughters for many years, as well as the church Bazaar. She loved socializing with people and helping wherever she could. Most of all, her family and friends were where her heart was. Besides caring for her family, Monica also loved trips to the casino, where Lady Luck was always on her side. It was always a good time for all. (laissez les bons moments rouler)

Monica is preceded in death by her husband, Emil A. Reznicek, Sr.; her parents; brothers Roman Sykowski, Stanley Sykowski, Vincent Sykowski, and Florian Sykowski; and Sister Louise Brzymialkiewicz, as well as her son-in-law, David Hengst.

Monica is survived by her daughter Kathleen Cernoseck and husband Randy, son Emil Reznicek, Jr. and partner Stacie Hein, son Larry Reznicek, daughter Peggy Pattison, and daughter Debra Hengst; along with grandchildren Kori Leigh Ammerman and husband Clay, Blake Patek, Todd Reznicek, Logan Pattison, Ethan Reznicek, Dean Hengst and wife Jenny, Joy Hengst; great-grandchildren Kenlee Patek, Ashlin Reznicek, Ryan and Julia Hengst, Cru and Ava Ammerman, and sister Bernice Vrabel and brother-in-law Tim, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Monica will be honored in Sealy, on 9/6/25 at the Immaculate Conception Church, with a visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m., followed by mass and graveside services in Sealy, Immaculate Commentary. Fellowship following at KC Hall Sealy.

Pallbearers will be Jim Brzymialkiewicz, Raymond Sykowski, Albert Brzymialkiewicz, Martin Reznicek, Vincent Joe Sykowski, and Johnnie Reznicek: Honorary Pallbearers will be Blake Patek, Todd Reznicek, Logan Pattison, Ethan Reznicek and Kori Ammerman.
