Monica B. Sutton, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on September 7, 1931, in Wyandotte, Michigan, she was a lifelong resident of the area where she made lasting memories and built meaningful relationships.
Monica was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Wyandotte, where she developed the strong character and sense of humor that would define her life. After completing her education, she embarked on a successful career at the Buhl Chrysler Dealership in Wyandotte, MI. Her colleagues and clients alike appreciated her warm spirit and dedication to her work.
Family was always Monica's greatest love, especially her grandchildren who loving referred to her as, Gram. She is survived by her three children, Richard Sutton, Timothy (Karla) Sutton, and Gregory (Karen) Sutton, who will carry her memory forward with fondness and gratitude. Her legacy also includes her cherished grandchildren, Megan M. Sutton, Scott Sutton (Megan Kelly), and Melanie Sutton, who brought joy and laughter into her life. Monica's passion for family shone through in everything she did, particularly in nurturing those close to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Sutton, whose memory she cherished dearly. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Caroline Zgoda, and her siblings, Anne Zgoda, Frank (the late Helen) Zgoda, Sr. Mary Angelis "Hattie" Zgoda, and Josephine (the late Anthony) Lewandowski. Each of these individuals played a significant role in her life, shaping her values and experiences with love and care.
In her leisure time, Monica enjoyed playing golf, a pastime that allowed her to embrace the outdoors and strengthen connections with friends. Her great sense of humor brought joy to those around her, creating a legacy of laughter that her loved ones will always remember.
A visitation and funeral service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at The Trenton Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd., Trenton. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM, Fr. Gary Morelli will officiate. In honoring her life, we celebrate the love, laughter, and memories Monica leaves behind, reflecting the warmth and joy she generously shared with everyone she encountered.
