Monika Stefan age 74, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away with her loving family by her side on November 18, 2024. She was born on November 20, 1949 in Nurnberg, Germany to Berta Gotz and Karl Zieher.
Monika was a business owner, and had a long-time love of interior design, geology and campfires. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed fellowship with her many friends in Algonquin and later Annapolis, MD.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Andrea Peters, Kathryn Jordan and Timothy Stefan. She had five grandchildren; Karly Jordan, Kelcey Peters, Tessa Jordan, Morgen Peters and Warren Jordan. Survivors also include her brothers-in-laws: Ed Stefan, (wife, Liz Stefan, daughters, Michelle and Tressie) and David Stefan, (wife, Barb Stefan, and children, Christopher, Becky and Lizzy) and their extended families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard Stefan in 2019.
Per Monika's request she will be cremated. Friends are invited to meet with her family for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 18, 2025 starting at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St., Algonquin. Directly following the Celebration of Life service, we will go to the Algonquin Cemetery, (Cary-Algonquin Rd.) for the interment, and return to St. John's Lutheran Church for a reception in the activity center.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to St. John's Lutheran Church for all their wonderful comfort and kindness during this difficult time.
