Monroe W. Graves Jr., 93, of Symonds Road, Troupsburg, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 following failing health. Born in Woodhull on July 8, 1932, Monroe was the son of the late Monroe and Anna Belle (Patterson) Graves. He attended Addison Central School. He served in the US Army from Nov. 1954 until Aug. 1956. On December 3, 1971, Monroe and the former Judy M. Vance were married in Webster, NY. Judy survives. Monroe was a longtime dairy farmer in the Town of Woodhull. He also served as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Woodhull from 1980 to 1986. He was a two term councilman for the Town of Woodhull and a former member of the Woodhull Fire Department. Monroe was a former member and past Master of the Woodhull Grange. For 26 years, he assisted with livestock sales at the Cowanesque Cattle Barn. Surviving is his wife, Judy Graves at home, his children and spouses, John and Linda Graves of Addison, Randy and Dawn Graves of Savona, Fred Graves and Debra Mosher of Woodhull and Peggy Sue (Jim) Plaisted of Estelline, South Dakota, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his sisters, Marilyn Simons of Troupsburg and Lorraine (Sam) Sorenson of Osceola as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 7 at 6:00 pm at the Woodhull Cemetery Chapel on the grounds of Woodhull Cemetery. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery. The family will provide flowers. Please consider memorial donations to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
