Monta R. Wolfe passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m on Tuesday, August 19th in the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary with Todd Salzwedel officiating. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home.

He was born Saturday, September 16, 1939 in Oakland, California, the son of Dr. E.N. (Teddy) Wolfe and Arlene (Dunn) Wolfe. He spent his preschool years living in Oakland. At the close of World War II, the family relocated to Henderson, Texas, where he graduated high school in 1957. Monta attended Texas Tech University and was a graduate of Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston. Monta married Carol Foerster June 26, 1965 in Wharton, Texas. He spent over forty years serving families as a funeral director at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home here in Lubbock. After his retirement, he worked for Peaceful Gardens Cemetery for a number of years. He was a member of the Panhandle Funeral Directors Association and the Texas Funeral Directors Association, where he recently received recognition for his more than sixty-five years of active membership. Monta had a passion for clocks, especially antique ones, and was an avid philatelic collector. He was also a devoted supporter of the Friends of Music at First Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Brian Wolfe (Cheri) of Argyle; his daughter, Claire Wolfe of San Antonio; and a grandson, Landon Wolfe of Norman, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lena Wolfe Kanton.
