Moorthy Selvaraj

Moorthy Selvaraj, beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2025, at the age of 64.

Born in Burma on November 5, 1960, Moorthy later built a life rooted in dedication, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. He spent many years working in marketing for his father's business in Hong Kong, where he was not only deeply committed but also highly successful. His keen insight, integrity, and professionalism made a lasting impact and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Moorthy was known to all as the kindest human being-always smiling, always ready with a joke, and always putting others at ease. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: taking peaceful walks in the park, watching football, and enjoying movies with loved ones. His laughter and lighthearted spirit brought warmth wherever he went.

In 2011, Moorthy was diagnosed with kidney disease and bravely faced years of ongoing medical challenges. In 2012, he received a life-saving kidney transplant from his devoted wife, Viola-a profound act of love and partnership. In the years that followed, he continued to face serious health complications, including both liver and kidney disease, among other issues. Despite the pain and long periods of suffering, Moorthy carried himself with quiet resilience and grace, never losing his sense of humor or kindness.

He was also a man of deep faith, devoted to his Catholic beliefs and living each day with humility, compassion, and gratitude.

Moorthy is survived by his loving wife, Viola; his two children, Sathia and Sathiaraj; his brother, Shiva; his sisters-in-law, Joythi and Lakshmi; and his niece, Jayanthi, and nephew, Raj. He was preceded in death by his father, Raj; mother, Karupayee Ammal; and brothers, Mohan and Selvam.

His legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 18 from 11 am until time of the Mass at 12 Noon at St. Norbert & Our Lady of the Brook Parish, 1809 Walters Ave., Northbrook.
