Morgan Stephenson Williams

Morgan Stephenson Williams, age 74, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026 in Boise, Idaho at the Idaho State Veterans Home.

Morgan was born on December 31, 1951 in Fillmore, Utah, and spent most of his youth in the Blackfoot, Idaho area. As a young boy his mom taught him a love for music as he sang with his siblings often in their home and at family events. He followed on the heels of his Dad to many games and matches as he coached various sports. These two influences as he grew would fuel his love of music and sports throughout his life. During his high school years he played football, basketball, and baseball. As a senior he served as class president and was voted "most sociable" by his peers. He developed his musical talent further by singing in the all-state choir, playing guitar, and performing as the lead singer of a band called The Midnights. He also frequently sang at community events alongside his cousin, Karen. Following high school, Morgan attended Ricks College for one year and joined the Chi Guys fraternity.

On October 22, 1971 he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Williams, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they built a life rooted in family. Morgan loved playing with his kids in those early years, whether it was baseball in the back yard, football in the front yard, basketball on the driveway hoop he installed or just toys on the floor. He worked various retail jobs early on and enjoyed umpiring baseball games to support his growing family. He also joined the National Guard Reserves. Following seven years in the reserves, he began full-time employment with the Idaho Army National Guard. He served in Blackfoot prior to transferring to Burley from 1987 to 1989. In 1989 he moved to Kuna, where he lived for the remainder of his life. Morgan worked at Gowen Field in Boise and dedicated over 30 years of service to the National Guard before retiring in 2018-a career marked by loyalty, hard work, and quiet pride.

Morgan was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many leadership callings throughout his life. He lived his faith through kindness and friendliness to those around him.

He particularly loved pop music from the 1950s-1980s and would frequently sing along with the songs as they played on the radio in his car. He enjoyed watching baseball, old western movies, and especially cherished time spent watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and musical activities. As he aged and slowed down his favorite spot to sit was on the corner of the couch by the window so he had a view of the T.V. and of the kids playing in the front yard. His mind was a steel trap for sports facts and statistics. Sometimes he couldn't recall what you talked to him about yesterday, but he could remember who the MVP was in the 1984 World Series (Alan Trammell, of course, who hit .450 (9-for-20) with two home runs, six RBI, and played stellar defense). Morgan loved to read fast-paced, exciting books. He liked spending money on nice things… he occasionally found himself in a little hot water after coming home with a car, a trip, or some other luxury purchase he made without talking to Mom. In later years it was a well-known family fact that if you called the house during a baseball game, he either wouldn't answer or he would answer the phone but not pay attention to what you were saying. These calls would always end with us asking to talk to Mom. Morgan was known for his kind heart and quick wit, often delivering one liners at key moments that made everyone in the room laugh. Morgan was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at age 67. As his needs for care increased so did the frequency of his expressions on how much he loved and appreciated our Mother for all of the love and support she provided him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Williams; his 14 children: Adrian (Julie) Williams of St. George, Utah; Jonathan (Kimberli) Williams of Blackfoot, Idaho; Loralee (Shawn) Patterson of Ashton, Idaho; Jason (Jan) Williams of Fruitland, Idaho; Celena (Josh) Hughey of Meridian, Idaho; Clarese Williams of Kuna, Idaho; Adam (Heather) Williams of Kuna, Idaho and (Jessica) Williams of Pocatello, Idaho; 32 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 19 siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Pat; his sister, Stephany; his brother, Kendall; his youngest son, Darin; and his granddaughter, Camille.

Morgan will be lovingly remembered for his warmth and humor. Whenever we feel the breeze rustling our hair as we sit by a football field, hear the familiar lyrics of an old song on the radio, smell the popcorn cooking at a ball game, or see that old recliner in the corner still rocking we will know that He is right there in our hearts and memories.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday February 1 from 5:00-7:00pm at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather, share memories, and pay their respects.

Funeral services honoring Morgan's life will be held on Monday February 2 at 11:00am at Hawker Funeral Home. A family and friends viewing will be held prior the service from 10:00-11:00am.

Interment will follow his services at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. All who knew and loved Morgan are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
