Morris Henson Springer, 92, a resident of Tallahassee, died on July 16, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Bayes. In addition to his wife, Betty Bayes, he is survived by three daughters; Amy Frey, Leslie Springer, Jane Springer; two sisters and one brother; Willene Davis of Henderson, North Carolina, Rita Lee of Atlanta, Georgia, Emerson Springer of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Mary (Brown) Springer. Morris was born in Cato, Arkansas on November 19, 1932. He attended North Little Rock High School. After high school, he attended Bethel College, Memphis Theological Seminary, the University of Arkansas and Dubuque Seminary. During his lengthy career as a Presbyterian minister, he served congregations in Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Florida. While in Arkansas he also worked in the Juvenile Court System. Morris was always a fierce advocate for social justice, equality and opportunity for all. Morris had an infectious sense of humor who always brought fun and laughter to those around him. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, writing poems and woodturning. He was a member of the American Woodturners Association. Over a 40+ year career as a wood turner, Morris created hundreds of one-of-a-kind art works. As a regular vendor every week at The Park in Tallahassee for many years, his work has been purchased by countless people. He is also a featured artist at The LeMoyne Art Gallery store in Tallahassee. A funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 10:00am with the Rev. Glenn Hodges officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL. Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
