Moses Daniels Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Morton's Mortuary on Nov. 28, 2025.
In Loving Memory of
Moses Daniels Jr.
July 30, 1945 - November 22, 2025
With profound love and deep gratitude for his life, we celebrate the homegoing of Moses "Moe" Daniels Jr., who transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on November 22, 2025, at the age of 80. He departed this life at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield, CT, surrounded by the abiding grace of God.
Moses was born on July 30, 1945, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the cherished son of Mary Thompson Daniels and the late Moses Daniels Sr. He was baptized in the Apostolic Church, where his lifelong walk of faith began. He received his early education through the North Carolina school system, proudly graduating from 14th Street School and Atkins High School.
In 1967, Moses relocated to Connecticut, and soon after, in 1968, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Gooden. Together, they built a beautiful life spanning more than 57 blessed years. Their union was a testament to loyalty, partnership, and steadfast love. Moses walked by faith and not by sight- his quiet but unwavering trust in the Lord was evident in the way he lived and loved.
Moses worked diligently throughout his life, beginning his career with Avco Corporation and General Electric before joining Moore Special Tools in 1973. He worked faithfully for 35 years until his retirement in 2007. Even in retirement, Moses enjoyed staying active and continued to work part-time with Stratford Parks and Recreation. His work ethic reflected his character; steady, dependable, humble, and strong.
A lifelong lover of sports, Moses began playing golf in 1968 and fell deeply in love with the game. Known for swinging the game in his favor with his famous Big Bertha putter, he served with pride as president of the Sportsman Golf Club for approximately five years. He cherished traveling to different golf courses and sharing fellowship on the green. Moses also played softball with the Park City Giants, bowled in a Saturday morning league, and joyfully watched sports whenever he could- never forgetting the pride he felt in having once pitched a no-hitter. He was also a member of the New Era lodge.
Retirement enriched his circle of friendship and routine. He treasured his daily drives to Short Beach, coffee with the guys in downtown Bridgeport, breakfast at the Holiday Inn, and of course, tee time. These simple joys filled his days with peace, laughter, and companionship.
Moses was a devoted family man whose quiet strength and loving presence anchored his home. Soft-spoken, easygoing, hardworking, and humble, he had a heart for people; especially the youth and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Family gatherings brought him tremendous joy: playing pitty pat and checkers, enjoying southern cuisine lovingly prepared by his wife, watching sports, reading his newspaper, and ending evenings with a good movie, warm blankets on the floor, apple pie and ice cream, and the laughter of those he loved most.
Though he built a life in Connecticut, Moses' heart never drifted far from his North Carolina roots. He held deep love for Winston-Salem and maintained strong ties and treasured memories with family and friends there.
With heartfelt gratitude, the family extends sincere appreciation to our neighbors the Bennett family and the James family, for their unwavering kindness, compassion, and watchful care over the years.
Moses leaves to cherish his memory:
His devoted wife, Patricia Ann Gooden Daniels;
His daughter, Barbara Selina Daniels;
His grandson, Terrell James Daniels;
His great-grandchildren: Solana Daniels, Kehlani Daniels, and Zaidin Daniels, all of Connecticut;
His mother, Mary Thompson Daniels, and his sister, Marie Daniels, both of North Carolina;
His brother, Norvell (Gloria) Daniels, of Florida;
Extended grandchildren: Aja, Mufasha, Ivan, Michael, and Micah;
As well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends who will forever feel the impact of his love.
He was preceded in death by his father, Moses Daniels Sr.; his sister, Barbara Daniels Todd; and his brother, Joseph Daniels Sr.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rest in the comfort of God's promise and the enduring love, laughter, and unforgettable memories Moses leaves behind. His life was a quiet but profound testimony to faith, kindness, forgiveness, and the steady power of simple, unwavering love. Moses will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
