Mozell Dangerfield

Mozell Williams Dangerfield was born into this life on January 19, 1938 in Curtis, Arkansas, to the union of Christine McNeil Jones and Limon L. Williams. At an early age she confessed Christ and was a member of Mt. Friendship Baptist Church, in Curtis, Arkansas. Mozell’s primary education was obtained in Curtis, Arkansas. She later attended Dunbar High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Mozell met her sweetheart, the very enthusiastic George A. Dangerfield. After an appropriate courtship, they moved to the Open Banks Community, where she became a member of Oak Grove AME Church. They married on August 10, 1956, and to this union eight children were born. After Oak Grove AME Church was dissolved, she moved her membership to St. Paul AME Church in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Mozell was a wonderful cook who would bake almost any sweet from scratch, with her favorite desert being Coconut Cream Pie. She was highly creative in making many crafts. She loved to sew and make quilts. She also had a very green thumb. She knew how to plant any type of flower to beautify her home. Mozell also enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and dancing.

Mozell loved to help people. She worked at Arkadelphia Head Start, Henderson State University, First Baptist Church, and Area Agency on Aging where she later retired. However, her work was not done. She then joined the Foster Grandparent Program.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church by serving with the Women’s Missionary Society, City Wide Ushers, and Hospitality Committee. She was also a member of the Widow’s Group where they had great fellowship.

On Thursday August 24, 2023, the Lord called his beautiful daughter home to be with him. She was preceded in death by her parents, Limon L. Williams, Christine Jones and Rosie Lee McClenton; her husband, George A. Dangerfield; daughter, Benny Delean Dangerfield; siblings, Mary Jean Williams Bunting, Ben Louis Williams, Judieth Steinman and Ocie Jones; and a special sister in-law, Amboline Dangerfield House.

She leaves a loving legacy with seven beautiful children, Alvin (Minnie) Dangerfield of Sparkman, AR; George (Trevalon) Dangerfield, Jr, of Mineral Springs, AR; Lynn (Emmanuel) Watson of Blytheville, AR; Geneva Harper of Warren, AR; Calvin Dangerfield of Arkadelphia, AR; Shirley (Bruce) Junior of Scott, AR; Shelia Hill of Sherwood, AR; 13 Grandchildren, Ronald Dangerfield, Reginald Dangerfield, Keith Dangerfield, Antoinette (Aaron) Pugh, James (Kamie) Harper, Elijah Watson, Jeremiah Watson, Braylon (Erin) Junior, Briana (Justin) Sims, Michelle Dangerfield, Calvion Dangerfield, Nicholas Hill, Amirah Shaw; 6 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; 3 Sisters, Lennell Joiner, Flozell Blevins, Fayrene Ellison; 1 Stepsister, Cora Jones, 1 Stepbrother, John H. Williams, and 1 close cousin who was more like a sister, Mary Mitchell of Kansas City, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Dangerfield will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until service time with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at St. Paul AME Church with Rev. Llewelyn Terry, eulogist and Pastor T.W. Scott., officiating. The interment will be at Piney Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Harper, Braylon Junior, Jeremiah Watson, John Hines, Gregory McGhee, and Steven McClure. Honorable to mention are Alvin Dangerfield, George Dangerfield, Calvin Dangerfield, Aaron Pugh, Nicholas Hill, and Elijah Watson. Floral Escorts will be the members of the Women's Missionary Society.

You have been most gracious and kind with your examples of kindness and expressions of love to us during the loss of our dear mother. Your kind expressions of love, the food that was carefully prepared, the visits, telephone calls, text messages, cards, flowers, and prayers have brightened the path we now take. You have been a great source of comfort and we thank all of you with saddened and appreciative hearts.
