Mrs. Erma Jean Alsobrook Ellington, age 92, of Thomaston, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Ellington was born in Thomaston, Georgia on January 24, 1933, a daughter of the late Bob Alsobrook and and the late Maudelle Kersey Alsobrook. She was a 1951 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute. She worked for the Thomaston Mills Sewing Division and later William Carter Company as a seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to walking horse shows while watching her husband show horses. She was an avid seamstress and loved growing flowers. She was a member of Milner Baptist Church, but grew up, married, raised her children, while attending East Thomaston Baptist Church, where her children also gave their lives to the Lord.
Mrs. Ellington is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, James W. "Jimmy" Ellington; her daughter, Lezlie (Pete) Hudson of Butler; her son, Dr. Brad (Carolyn) Ellington of Milner; her seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Roger) Welch of Mauk, Angel (Clayton) Stucker of New Mexico, Peter (Libby) Hudson, Jr. of Madison, Casey (Brian) Baker of Warner Robins, Felicia (Michael) Robinson of Byron, Micah (Sarah) Ellington of Pooler, and Caleb (Brooke) Ellington of Baxley; her sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ellington was preceded in death by a daughter, Cassandra Faith Ellington, and her sisters, Barbara Thomas, Gail Burel, and Myris Kelly.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ellington will be held Wednesday, October 22, at 2:00 PM, at East Thomaston Baptist Church, with Dr. Brad Ellington, Rev. Micah Ellington, and Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service at South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s's Children Hospital.
