Murelann Charter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jowett Funeral Home and Cremation Service & Reception Center - Port Huron on Oct. 11, 2025.
Murelann Belsey Charter went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2025, one week after her 89th birthday, following a long illness. Murelann was born on October 3, 1936 in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. She later moved with her family to Peterborough, Ontario. It was there that she met her husband, John Charter, at the church they attended while he was enrolled in Bible college. They were married June 7, 1958.
Murelann was involved in various ministries at the churches John pastored for over 40 years. She sang in the choir, led women's bible studies, and taught Sunday school classes for children. Together she and John served at many churches in Ontario, Canada, Missouri, and Michigan. After retiring, they lived in Portage, Michigan for several years until moving to Port Huron, Michigan.
Murelann enjoyed reading, music, baking, shopping and watching figure skating. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Nana. Murelann was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, John Mark Charter (Michele) and Nikki, Melody Crouch (Trent), Alex and Courtney, and Sharon Palmateer (Shane), Tallon and Hollyn.
Murelann was the youngest of six children, and was preceded in death by her parents John Alfred and Dora Irene (Dempsey) Belsey, siblings Robert Belsey, Betty Casey (Gordon), Earl Belsey (Helen), Patrick Belsey (Audrey), Carol Lowes (Hubert), and cousin, Maxine "Micki" Dempsey Neuen (Carl).
Arrangements to be made by Jowett Funeral Home of Port Huron, and Langeland Family Funeral Home of Portage.
