Clinton Wilson Charter

Clinton Wilson Charter, 85, of South Windsor, beloved companion for many years to Dorothy Smith, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family. Clinton was born in Stafford Springs, CT, son of the late Clinton A. and Mary C. (Wilson) Charter. He grew up in Ellington and was a graduate of Rockville High School. He went on to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in business from the University of Connecticut. He worked for CT Extension Service, Charles H. Hood Dairy Foundation, and Farm Credit, specializing in Agricultural Banking. Clinton retired in 1994 after many years of service. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a devoted family member who adored his niece and nephews. Along with his companion of over 40 years, Dottie Smith he leaves his brothers, Stuart Charter and his wife Xiang Tan of East Windsor, Peter Charter and his wife Verna of Ellington, David Charter and his wife Ruth of Romulus, NY, his nieces and nephews, Travis and Sharon Charter of Norfolk, Nate Charter of Goshen, Justin & Chelsea Charter of Ancram, NY, Judy Moody and Ben Nelson of Genoa, NY, Mary Ellen Charter & Jerry Welch of Wyoming, NY, Paul and Marissa Charter of Ellington, Anne Charter of West Hartford, and Rachel Charter of Needham, MA, and his grandnieces and grandnephews, Marc Moody, Jon Moody, Megan Charter, Abigail Charter, Allison Charter, Shalrie Joseph and Maverick Joseph.

We would also like to acknowledge Clint's extended family "The Smith's " Dotties Mother Pearl and siblings Bill and Gerri,Carl&Pam, Paul &Sandy, David&Terri, Brenda & Jim, Jeannie&Ken, Kenny&Theresa, Donna and all of their families.

His family will receive friends for calling hours on Sunday, September 7, 2025, form 12-2pm at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, South Windsor. A celebration of Life will follow in the funeral home beginning at 2pm. Burial at Ellington Center Cemetery will be private at the request of his family.
