Murray James Bordeaux, 76, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 8, 2024. Murray was born September 18, 1948 to the late James D. Bordeaux and Mary Margaret “Margie” Wright.
Murray leaves behind his wife Rhonda Ann King Bordeaux of 52 years of the home; one son Murray Jason Bordeaux and wife Natasha of Asheboro; five grandchildren: Sara Elizabeth Bordeaux Prescott (Lake) of Towson, MD, Matthew Tyler Bordeaux of Randleman, Erika Lana Bordeaux, James Ellis Bordeaux, and Luke Marshall Bordeaux of Asheboro; one great granddaughter Avery Lake Prescott; two brothers Joseph Bordeaux (Taresa) and Mitchell Bordeaux (Donna); nephews Landon Bordeaux and Steve Bedsole; and multiple grand nieces and nephews.
Murray faithfully attended Singletary Church in Dublin and loved to study the word. He was very generous to everyone throughout his life and often helped those in need, not simply through donations to an organization, but also privately. He liked to talk about everyone in a positive light, never speaking negatively about them. His favorite author was Louis Lamour. He loved to watch Tales of Wells Fargo, Gunsmoke, Zorro, and Andy Griffith. His passion was NASCAR. He enjoyed classic country music. He loved working crossword puzzles to start his day.
Murray served on the USS Henderson as a Boilerman Class A in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1970. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He arrived at Giorgio’s Restaurant daily at 11 am. He loved the friendly staff and enjoyed talking to his multitude of friends. They all took special care of Murray.
Although he faced serious health issues, Murray continued to pursue life to its fullest.
The family would like to thank Liberty Hospice and nurse Christy Bowen for their kindness and compassionate care of Murray.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 11th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12th at Singletary Church in Dublin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Grimes Tatum cemetery in Tarheel.
