Murray Schlossman
August 31, 1935 – October 25, 2025
Murray Schlossman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 25, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 31, 1935, Murray was the youngest of five boys born to Solomon (Sam) and Bertha Schlossman, who had come to America seeking religious freedom and opportunity. Murray grew up surrounded by the deep values and traditions his parents carried with them. His early years took him from Brooklyn to Atlanta, Georgia, where part of the family settled, before returning to Brooklyn as a teenager. He attended Tilden High School, where he would form lifelong bonds and develop his characteristic humor and drive.
It was in Brooklyn that Murray met the love of his life, Barbara, whom he longed for day after day. From their very first meeting, Murray knew she was the one, and together they built a marriage, a family and a life together.
After high school, Murray found a career in the sewing machine parts and supplies business. With determination and entrepreneurial spirit, he worked his way up through several companies in the industry before founding his own successful business, Mico Sewing Supplies. His professionalism, integrity, and work ethic earned him the respect of both peers and customers.
As his business flourished, Murray and Barbara moved their growing family to Melville, Long Island, where they raised their three sons, Stuart, Eric, and Michael. Murray worked tirelessly to provide for his family and remained deeply involved in the Jewish community. He gave generously of his time and resources, supporting organizations such as Hadassah-Barbara's passion-UJA, and the Jewish Federation.
Outside of work, Murray found joy in golf, watching football, proudly holding New York Jets season tickets for many years.
In his later years, Murray could most often be found at his desk, continuing to work, reflect, and stay engaged with the world around him. Yet, his greatest happiness came from spending time with his family. His integrity, kindness, and strong moral compass continue to guide his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren today.
Murray's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and generosity-a life well lived and deeply cherished.
He will be forever remembered and missed by his sons, Stuart, Eric, and Michael; grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and all who were fortunate to know him. He loved you all.
A funeral service will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel (DELRAY) location, on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 1:45pm.
