Murell Eugene Tutterrow, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Owensville, Missouri, on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Born on May 25, 1937, in the small town of Brushy, Missouri, to David and Nancy (Fears) Tutterrow, Murell was a man whose life was characterized by kindness, faithfulness, and a remarkable aptitude for fixing anything that was broken.
Growing up in Piedmont, Missouri, Murell attended local schools and began working at an early age. His industrious nature led him to employment with Brown Shoe Co. before moving with his family to St. Louis in 1953. It was there that Murell's work ethic shone brightly, first with Chromecraft and then with Barnes-Jewish Hospital where he dedicated many years of service in maintenance until his retirement in 2000.
Murell's heart found its match when he married Rosella Worley on November 15, 1958. Their enduring love brought three children into the world: Gene, Cheryl, and Cathy. As a family man, Murell was both a provider and a pillar of strength, creating a loving and supportive home wherever they lived. Murell and Rosella lived in various places in Missouri including, Lonedell, St. Charles, Arnold and Pevely. In 2000, Murell retired and several years later, they moved to
Bloomsdale, MO. In 2019, they made their final home in Owensville near their family. Murell and Rosella's journey together was one of mutual devotion and care.
A man of many interests, Murell found joy in the great outdoors, whether it was a quiet day spent fishing, a morning in the woods hunting, or simply tinkering with small engines in his workshop. His hands were rarely still, as he was also a talented woodworker who took pleasure in creating and mending. The phrase "Hey Murell, can you fix this?" was a testament to the trust and confidence that his family and friends placed in his handy skills.
Above all, Murell's unwavering faith in the Lord was the cornerstone of his existence. He and Rosella were once very active members of Berean Missionary Baptist Church in Festus, and later Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Desoto, where they served and grew in their faith together. Murell's commitment to his beliefs was evident in the way he lived his life, guided by principles of kindness and a heart full of grace.
Murell is survived by his children: Gene Tutterrow and his wife, Debbie of Owensville, MO, Cheryl Johnson of Bourbon, MO, and Cathy Johnston of Blackwell, MO; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella; two sons-in-law, Bob Johnson and Bob Johnston; his parents; a brother, Doyle Tutterrow; and two infant siblings
