Myra Preyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Delisle Funeral Home - Portageville on Jan. 29, 2026.
It is with deep love and gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Myra Louise Noel Preyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Myra peacefully transitioned on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 10:52 p.m. at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 70.

Born on January 2, 1956, in Hayti, Missouri, to Minnie Lee Taylor and Easie Lean Noel, Myra grew up with an energetic spirit, a gift for conversation, and a heart that welcomed everyone she met. She never met a stranger and was known for her warmth, generosity, and vibrant personality.

Myra was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a proud business owner, enjoyed shopping, and found joy in making candles and sharing beauty through Mary Kay cosmetics. Above all, her greatest joy was her family - especially her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. She poured love, wisdom, and encouragement into the lives of all who knew her.

A woman of faith, Myra accepted Christ at an early age and often expressed her readiness to meet her Lord and Savior. She shared this especially with her granddaughter, Keiah Townsend, offering comfort to her family in knowing she was prepared for her heavenly home and to reunite with her brother, Anthony "Luke" Noel.

Myra was a devoted member of Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served in many capacities. She served as Secretary of Finance, was a member of the choir, and worked tirelessly on several committees including the Senior Citizens ministry, Raymond Taylor Scholarship Committee, and the Church's Culinary Ministry, always giving of her time and heart to support God's work.

On September 1, 1984, Myra married the love of her life, Curtis Preyer, and together they shared 41 years of love, laughter, and partnership.

Mr. Paul and Petronica Marshall

February 2, 2026

To Mr. Michael and Keshia Morgan, and the Entire Preyer Family,

My heart is with each of you as you face the loss of your beloved Mother-in-Law and Mother, Ms. Myra Louise Preyer. Losing a woman whose love shaped your family so deeply leaves a space that words can hardly fill. Please know that you are surrounded by care, prayer, and genuine support as you move through this difficult time.

Ms. Myra was the kind of woman whose presence brought warmth wherever she went. She carried wisdom in her words, kindness in her actions, and a steady love that made others feel seen and valued. Her life was a beautiful reflection of strength, grace, and devotion. The way she poured into her family-through her guidance, her faith, and her unwavering love-will continue to live on in each of you.

Her legacy is woven into the very fabric of your family. It shows in the compassion you extend to others, the unity you share, and the strength you carry forward. Some lives leave marks so deep that time cannot erase them, and hers is surely one of those lives.

As you gather to remember her, may the stories you tell bring light into the heaviness of grief. May the laughter you recall soften the ache of her absence. And may the love she instilled in you continue to hold your family together in the days ahead. Grief is the echo of love-profound, enduring, and sacred-and your grief speaks to the extraordinary woman she was.

"Those we love never truly leave us. They walk beside us in the quiet moments, in the memories that warm our hearts, and in the love, they leave behind."

May God surround your hearts with peace and comfort, and may the memory of Ms. Myra be a steady light that guides you now and always.

With deepest sympathy and love,
