Myra Yates Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 16, 2025.
Myra Blaine Yates, born May 8, 1940, spent her life loving others. She was a living example of Christ's love. Her daughters will remember a mother who never judged or spoke ill of anyone, who worked hard, who welcomed everyone into her home, and who always had enough love, energy, and homemade pie to go around. She raised them to have deep respect for people and places, and to have a sense of fun and adventure – whether it was playing in the woods, cheering at games, or piling everyone into a tiny house that was always big enough for one more person who needed to be loved. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew her as their "Grandma Myra" and their "Mimi." She was their best friend, traveling buddy, tea-party host, and safe place. They will remember her youthful spirit, her laughter, her singing, sled riding down her hill, and unforgettable trips to her creek to see the trolls under the bridge. She had a way of making each person she was with feel uniquely cherished with her listening ear, her beautiful smile, and just the right words at the right time. Those who married into the family quickly learned that Myra's love had no borders; she welcomed them all as her own with warmth, humor, and hospitality.

Myra was predeceased by the parents she adored, her brother Bill, and her husband Prentiss. She is survived by her six daughters: Dottie, Sandy, Betsy, Shelley, Bonnie, and Lisa, as well as by four sons-in-law, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, her brother, Alec, and her sisters: Judy, Sue, and Molly.

Myra's legacy will not be measured in accomplishments or accolades, but in the countless lives she touched, the tears she wiped away, the prayers she whispered, and the way she reflected Jesus to her family, friends, and everyone she met.

For Myra, the labor is finished, and the race is run. On November 14 th, 2025, she stepped from faith into sight, from weary hands into everlasting rest, and from the earthly love of her family into the eternal arms of her Savior. Until the day they are reunited, her family walks forward with the assurance that she is more alive now than ever before – held, whole, and home.

Funeral services for Myra will be held at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church on Saturday, November 22 nd at 1:00 pm with a reception immediately following the service.
