Myrna Ann Bartness, 89 was peacefully ushered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 1, 2023, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN.
Myrna was born on February 28, 1934, in Elbow Lake, MN to Adeline and Harold Bartness. She had a deep love for her family, often telling stories of her parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts who were a tremendous influence in her early years. She grew up with a fervent love for music as well. She was active in band, choir, and cheerleading in high school and was homecoming queen. She attended college at Moorhead State University.
Her love for family continued as she raised 7 children as a single mother. She often referred to them as her crown jewels. She made sure the family was involved in church, band, and choir. She passed on her love of family, music, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to every one of her children.
Myrna worked as a bailiff for Ottertail County in Fergus Falls, MN, then settled in Fargo, ND for several years, where she worked at the Holiday Inn Gift Shop and Sons of Norway. She was fun-spirited, lovingly called a feisty delight to those who knew her. She was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but always kindhearted. She loved cooking, dancing, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered with a smile for all the love she shared. She will be greatly missed.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Adeline and Harold, brother Keith, son M. Keith Bufis, and grandson Kyle Bufis.
She is survived by her children, Sue (Dennis) Walter of S. St. Paul, MN, Jeff (Sue) Bufis of Maple Grove, MN, Diane (Jerry) Anderson of Portland, OR, Kim (John) Bedore of Dilworth, MN, Cheri (Stephen) Samu of Fridley, MN, Heidi (David) Anderson of Moorhead, MN, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Myrna's service will be held spring of 2024 at United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, MN.
Service details are pending and will be posted when available.
