Myrna Grant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adams Funeral Home - Ralls on Sep. 12, 2025.
Celebration of Life service for Myrna Grant, 86, will be Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ralls Cemetery Chapel with Ricky Grant officiating. Burial will follow under direction of Adams Funeral Home. Myrna passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas.

Myrna was born January 17, 1939, to T. J. and Grace Taylor in Petersburg, Texas. After her father, T. J. Taylor was killed in a tragic accident, Grace married Paul McGuire and Paul raised Myrna as his own. She attended schools in Petersburg and graduated high school there in 1957. On June 22, 1957, she married Norman "Sonny" Grant and together they had three children: Ricky, Kerry, and D'Ann. Myrna was most happy as a homemaker for her family. She served as school secretary at Ralls Middle School and Ralls High School. After retirement from the school system, Myrna spent much of her time crocheting. She made crocheted dishcloths, cross bookmarks and other works of art, but mostly she crocheted personalized names for families. At last count, she had crocheted almost 3,000 family names that now hang in homes all over the world. For many years, you could find her alongside Sonny as they travelled to area towns to play in the local community musicals each weekend, and she and Sonny enjoyed travelling the roads with friends in their RV. After Sonny died in 2005, she continued living in their home in Ralls until she went to live in Levelland with her daughter, D'Ann and family. Later, she moved to Mackenzie Court in Lubbock, where she was living at the time of her death. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ralls, TX.

Myrna was predeceased by her husband, Norman, her parents, T. J. Taylor, Grace and Paul McGuire; her sister, Charlotte Traylor; Norman's family, Noble and Letha Grant, Roger Grant, Marie Barnett, and Mavis Walker.

She is survived by her children: Ricky and Mardi Grant of Abilene; Kerry and Jamie Grant of Mansfield; D'Ann and Bill Myatt of Levelland; Grandchildren: Bridget and Cameron Moore, Brooks and Kennah Grant, J.D. Grant, Jeremy Grant, Lyndsie and Josh Frost, Jake and Megan Myatt, and Alex Myatt; her great grandchildren: Parker Moore and wife, Clare, Micah Moore, Presleigh and Emery Grant, Bishop and Miles Grant, Ava, Willa and Aiden Grant, Berkely and Finley Frost, Mason, Ellie Jo and Wesley Myatt. Her sister, Tena Allen, of Springdale, Arkansas, and an aunt who was like a sister, Wilma Newton, of Holts Summit, Missouri.

Her family was her greatest joy, and her last days were enriched by visits from her kids, grandkids and especially the great grandkids. They will remember "Grandmother" with the fondest of memories.

The family would especially like to thank Myrna's special caregiver, Celeste Niblett, and the staff at Mackenzie Court for their love and care of Myrna along with our special appreciation to the wonderful nurses, caregivers and chaplains at Bridge Hospice for their attentiveness to Myrna's every need.

Pallbearers will be: Brooks Grant, J.D. Grant, Jeremy Grant, Jake Myatt, Josh Frost, Cameron Moore, Parker Moore, and Micah Moore.

The family requests memorials be made to Bridge Hospice in Lubbock, Texas.
