Myron Lang, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Myron was born on February 9, 1942, to Leonard and Evelyn (Hohn) Lang. He attended primary and high school in Parkston, SD and graduated from Southern State College in Springfield, SD with a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Education. On May 4, 1963, Myron married Marge Weber in
Dimock, SD and celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Myron began his construction career working several years for Pat Weber Construction in
Dimock, SD. Wanting to start his own business, he moved his family to
Platte, SD and founded Lang Building Company Inc. which he proudly operated for 25 years. Many residential and commercial/farming buildings in the surrounding area are part of the Lang building hallmark. After retiring from the construction field and with his love of driving, he pursued a new venture by partnering with Nick Trotter to form TLC Trucking Partnership for 10+ years.
Support of his community was important to Myron. He was a member of the Platte Commercial Club, serving a President term; he presided as President of the Platte Hospital Board for eight years with one of his crowning achievements helping bring to the area Dr Jerome Bentz; and was a 3rd Degree lifetime member of St Peter Catholic Church's Knights of Columbus.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Evelyn Lang, in-laws Ed and Hilda Weber, his brother Bob (wife Nancy), and son-in-law John Speckin (wife Kim).
He is survived by his wife Marge, and their three children: Lisa (husband Andy Storms), Kim, and Jarrod (wife Karen). As well as sister Connie Mehlhaff (husband Bob), numerous grandchildren and two newest great-grandchildren.
Myron will be remembered for his love of family and friends, hard work ethic, fast driving (and faster ability to talk himself out of a ticket), his gift of never having met a stranger, and his mastery level of story/joke telling. His hardworking spirit and ability to make others smile will be remembered by all who knew him.
Myron's last act of giving was graciously donating his body to the University of South Dakota Sandford School of Medicine for research and teaching. Mass and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
As his final joke…… "So, have you heard about the good-looking story telling guy trying to get into heaven? He made it… but only after promising not to roast the angels."
Mass and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers – Myron will be missed but he will be deeply remembered for his love of family and community.
