Myrtle Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes - Brooksville Chapel on Jan. 13, 2026.
Myrtle Ann Tucker Bailey
March 6, 1940 – January 11, 2025
With deep love and sadness, we share that Ann Bailey passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2025, at the age of 85.
Ann was born in Phenix City, Alabama, and spent her life showing kindness, warmth, and generosity to everyone she met. She devoted thirty-three years to teaching, where her wit, wisdom, and caring spirit left a lasting impression on countless students.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Ann trusted in her Savior, Jesus Christ, through every high and low. Nothing mattered more to her than her family, and she was especially smitten with her husband of 61 years, Tony Bailey. Together, they shared a lifetime of love.
Ann found joy in serving others. Whether she was faithfully helping at Eden Baptist Church or happily wandering through flea markets, she did everything with a giving heart. She had a way of putting everyone else first, never asking for recognition, and finding happiness simply in helping those around her.
To her family, Ann was known for her quiet strength, deep love, tireless work ethic, and incredible grit. If she had a motto, it would surely be, "This too shall pass."
Ann is survived by her children, Toni Michelle Smith (John), Derrick Bailey, and Jay Bailey; her brothers, Jerry Tucker (Rachel) and Thomas Tucker (Carolyn); and her cherished grandchildren, Thomas Smith, Tinsley Bailey Perez-Maldonado (Hector), Jaycie Bailey, Colby Bailey, Brendon Bailey, and Naudiah Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Cyril Tucker, and her sister, Sue Henshaw.
A celebration of Ann's life will be held on Saturday, January 17, at Eden Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the beautiful life she lived. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service following at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Eden Baptist Church.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her."
- Proverbs 31:28
