Myrtle Louise Dew (née Shoemaker)

Born January 19, 1938 - Passed July 17, 2025

Myrtle Louise Dew, age 87, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Bluewell, West Virginia, to the late Beulah and James Shoemaker and was one of 13 siblings. Myrtle's early years were filled with the strength and spirit that only a large West Virginia family could bring.

She is survived by her loving brother, Calvin (Joan) Shoemaker; her devoted daughters, Kelly Lennox (Ronald Hribek) and Jody Adamski (Michael Smith); and her beloved grandchildren: Jessica Rokosz (Brian), Marci McMahan (Joseph), and Loren Halcomb (Steven). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Jayce Rokosz, Teegan Rokosz, Ryder Rokosz, Beau Halcomb, Piper McMahan, and Bristol Halcomb.

Myrtle's journey took her from West Virginia to Washington, D.C., where she began her career at the Bell Telephone Company. In March of 1957, she married Ronald MacGregor, with whom she raised her daughters in Bay City, Michigan. Later in life, she continued her telecommunications career with AT&T, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. In September 1992, she married Gerald Dew and began the next chapter of her life.

In retirement, Myrtle made the most of every moment-wintering in Anna Maria Island, Florida, enjoying golf and boating, trips to the casino, and always surrounding herself with loved ones. Her final years were spent near her family in Bay City, Michigan, where her warm presence continued to light up the room.

Myrtle was best known for being the ultimate hostess. Whether it was a Sunday dinner, a holiday gathering, or an impromptu visit, she welcomed everyone with open arms, a table full of delicious food, and a heart full of joy. Her home was a place of laughter, comfort, and connection. She had a special gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved.

She will be remembered for the kindness in her heart, the smile that never faded, and the countless memories made around her table. Myrtle leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and strength, carried on by all who had the joy of knowing her.

In keeping with her wishes, a private celebration of life will be held with her close family and friends at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted Squires Funeral Home.
