Mysore Vijaya Shanker, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 77. A longtime resident of Billerica, Massachusetts, Vijaya was a man defined by his incredible kindness and generosity that touched everyone who knew him. Born in Mysore, India, in 1949, Vijaya graduated from medical school in India before moving to the United States in 1980. He dedicated the vast majority of his life to healthcare, providing care and comfort to others over the decades. Beyond his professional life, Vijaya's greatest pride was his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose presence brought warmth and care to those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Hemalatha; his son, Eshwar; and his daughter, Thaeje. He also leaves behind his son-in-law, Matthew, and his cherished grandson, Rohan, who brought him joy. He will be remembered by his family and beyond for his strength, compassion, and kindness.

Family and friends are invited to honor Vijaya's life at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62) Wilmington, MA on Saturday, March 14, 2026 with a Hindu Prayer Service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will follow from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place in Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica, MA at 12:00 noon.
