N.C. "Nick" Hardrict, 74, of
South Bend, Indiana, passed away on August 14, 2025. Born on February 18, 1951, in Cleveland, Mississippi, Nick was the son of the late Fraizer Montgomery and Margaret Hardrict.
A proud graduate of Washington High School, Nick went on to attend Southwestern Michigan College, where he continued to build the foundation for a life rooted in hard work, family, and quiet resilience.
Nick loved his family first and foremost. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose presence anchored generations. He and his beloved wife, Isabel (Fuentes) Hardrict, shared 53 years of marriage a partnership marked by quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering support. He is also survived by his children, Angela Hardrict and Nick (Erin) Hardrict along with god daughter, Raquel Hall; and a proud legacy of grandchildren: Amani (Jalen) Lee, Andre Broadnax, Nigh Hardrict, Nick Hardrict II, Alec Hardrict, Raven Hardrict, Shianne Peters, Mya Reeves Myles Reeves, Kylia Jenkins. He also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
Nick's life was deeply rooted in family. He is survived by his sisters, Janice (Boe) Clark and Michelle (Gerald) Flunder; and brothers, Frazier (Brenda) Montgomery, Michael Hardrict, Samuel Hardrict, Kevin Montgomery, and Eric Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Montgomery and Paul Hardrict.
He was a hard worker who found joy in simple things whether it be singing, cracking jokes with his wild sense of humor, or chatting on his CB radio like an old friend to the world. Nick showed up for every event his grandkids were part of, no matter how far, and he was at his best in front of the barbecue, manning the grill with a smile. He loved using his passport, embracing new experiences, and giving generously of himself. Nick was a giver, a laugher, and a steady presence whose moments of joy-whether with family, friends, or strangers will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Nick will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for family, and the steady way he showed up for those he cared about. His legacy lives on in the stories shared around kitchen tables, the laughter of his grandchildren, and the bonds he helped build across generations.
