Nadine Marie (Adamson) Bolduan, 69, died peacefully of natural causes at home on June 18, 2022.
She was born Oct. 14, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio. She received her nursing degree in 1971 from Mercy Hospital and while working in the cardiac unit she met medical student Jeffrey Patrick Bolduan. In a whirlwind romance, they were engaged after nine days. Jeff and Nadine were married in Toledo on Jan. 5, 1973, and as newlyweds they relocated to Guadalajara, Mexico. They spent some years in Dearborn, Michigan, and eventually settled to raise their family in Goshen, Indiana, in 1981. Syracuse, Indiana, became their full-time home in recent years.
Nadine was endlessly devoted to her husband and four daughters: Jana (Spencer) Bolduan Lomax, Cortney (Matthew) Carpenter, Kate (Michael) Gershenson, and Alyssa Bolduan (Alexander Schneider). Taking care of her family was Nadine's favorite job and she wouldn't have had it any other way. As her daughters' ultimate cheerleader, Nadine gracefully balanced the constant carpools and sporting events. Queen – as she was affectionately called by Jeff – was a person of many talents, including: crafting unbeatable homecoming floats, as well as creative Halloween costumes and elaborate prom decorations. She was a phenomenal cook; inventing home recipes like her famous upside-down apple pie, Fourth of July pasta salad, and bean soup, among others. She impressively organized and managed vacation Bible school and PTA fundraisers, in addition to the medical office of Dr. Jeffrey P. Bolduan, MD. As a woman of strong Christian faith, Nadine found direction and guidance in the Bible.
To know Nadine is to know that she loved to laugh to tears and enjoyed quoting movie one-liners, especially those from "SpaceBalls," "Pee Wee" and "Ghostbusters." Nadine and Jeff were known for hosting memorable holiday parties and creating traditions with their friends for years to come. Nadine was proud to demonstrate her prowess at back handsprings and barefoot waterskiing on a glassy lake and was a founding member of the original Syracuse Sunday Ski Team.
What most people will recall about Nadine is she made you feel heard, accepted and loved. In addition to being a mother of four, she was a second mom to countless others; opening her home to those seeking guidance. Later in life, "Nonnies" enjoyed being the infinitely generous, inspiring and easily-entertained grandmother to eight grandchildren: Townes, Althea, and Lincoln Lomax; Sloane, Sam, and Fletcher Carpenter; and Cecelia and Delphine Gershenson.
Nadine and Jeff truly embraced Mexican culture starting in 1973, exploring the country annually with their daughters. Nadine cherished her time spent in Zihuatanejo and loved sharing the pace of life with friends and family far and wide. If you have the opportunity to catch a sunset in a hammock, please think of Nadine – especially if you are lucky enough to spot that "green flash' just as the last sun kisses the horizon.
Nadine is survived by her loving husband, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Nancy Reno; sister Christine (Edward) Kotalo and niece and nephew. Nadine is preceded in death by her father, Floyd Forrest Adamson, and her very beloved bonus father, James Reno.
A private memorial will take place at a later date. Condolences may be sent to: 500 E. Medusa St., Syracuse, IN 46567.
