Nadine Kerchee

A private graveside service for Nadine LaVonne Kerchee, 95, of Geronimo was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Kerchee passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at her home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Nadine was born on July 7, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jonas M. and Ruth (Moore) Poweshiek. She grew up in Des Moines, IA and graduated high school at East High. After school she went to Haskell Indian Nation University in Lawrence, KS, where she met Walter Kerchee, Jr., whom she later married on August 31, 1950 in Winfield, KS. Together they shared 54 years of marriage before his passing on September 25, 2004 and were blessed with seven children. She worked at the American Machine and Foundry until its closing. Nadine and Walter made their home in Lawton, OK where she worked as an executive secretary for PSO and the City of Lawton until her retirement. Nadine studied sociology at Cameron University in her seventies. Mrs. Kerchee loved the Lord and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Lawton, Second Ward. Nadine loved her family and enjoyed being a fun grandma, playing video games with her grandchildren and teaching them to roller skate, skateboard, and drive when they were old enough.
Mrs. Kerchee is survived by her children, Sallie Tonips, of Cyril, OK, Sandy Clah and husband, Herbert, of New Mexico, Royal Nahno-Kerchee and wife, Teri, of Iowa, and Wynema Riley and husband, Michael, of Geronimo, OK; her son in law, Daries Knox; her grandchildren; her great grandchildren and many other loving family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; her daughters, Ruth Kerchee, Sunny Knox, and Peggy Nahno-Kerchee; her brothers, Vernon Poweshiek, Edgar Poweshiek, and Richard Poweshiek; her sister, Gloria Grant; and her son in law, Otto Tonips.
