David Menousek Obituary

David Martin Menousek

1988 - 2025

Eagle Mountain, UT-David Martin Menousek, 36, passed away on August 24, 2025, after a courageous 20-month battle with rectal cancer.

Born December 24, 1988, in Merriam, Kansas, to Martin and Diane Menousek, Dave was the youngest of four children. His mom often recalled how nurses placed newborns in stockings, but baby Dave was too big, so his stocking was laid on top of him.

Dave's love for music and theater began early. He performed backyard Disney shows with siblings and cousins, later serving as theater president in high school, starring in musicals and directing a short play. Music remained central through college and beyond. Through attending concerts, playing guitar, singing, and collecting vinyl records.

In 2009 he married his best friend and love of his life, Laura. He graduated from Utah State University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Information Systems. Together they built a marriage full of laughter, adventure, and devotion.

Family was everything to Dave. He adored his nieces and nephews, often planning creative activities with them. He also loved to travel; after his diagnosis, he pursued bucket-list trips with determination, including a dream cruise to Australia and New Zealand this past winter with Laura.

A loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan, Dave stuck with his team through hard seasons and celebrated their Super Bowl wins, attending many games with enthusiasm.

He will be remembered as talented, witty, and kind. His sharp humor, creativity, and curiosity gave life extra sparkle. He cherished his cats, loved exploring with Laura, and had a gift for making ordinary moments unforgettable. To know Dave was to know loyalty, laughter, and love.

Dave is survived by his wife, Laura; his mother, Diane; siblings Christine and Geoff Drummond, Jon and Kelli Menousek, Sami and Mike Porenta, Alex King, Adam and Sydney King, and Logan and Anne King; and nieces and nephews Jack, Halle, McCall, Drew, Kaiden, Dottie, Hunter, Amy, Brooklyn, Maya, Kaio, and Zara. He was preceded in death by his father, Marty.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the gift of Dave's life and the memories that will always keep him with us.
