Nancie D. Gross Carter, 89, of Falconer passed away peacefully Friday (August 1, 2025) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. A lifelong area resident Nancie was born August 2, 1935, the daughter of the late Alvin and Louella Henry Centner. Nancie was a 1953 graduate of Fredonia High School and a 1967 graduate of Jamestown Nursing School as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed by the former Jamestown General Hospital from 1967 to 1988. Prior to retirement she was employed by WCA Hospital from 1988 to 2000. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancie enjoyed crocheting blankets and baby sweaters, baking for her family get togethers and was known for her delicious cottage cheese rolls. She enjoyed going shopping at Wegmans, and going for coffee at Tim Hortons. Nancie will be remembered for often saying, "It is what it is." Surviving are four children: Cindy (Al) Cassista of Massachusetts, Darell (Dawn) Gross of Sinclairville, Terri (David) Garbart of Frewsburg, Rusty (Tina) Gross of Cassadaga; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren, and her brother Herbert (Barb) Centner of Fredonia. Also surviving are her two cats, Whiskers and Smoky. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Carter whom she married January 3, 1998, who died October 2, 2019; a daughter Laurie Triscari and a sister Claudia Wilbur. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Levant Cemetery, Falconer. Memorial contributions may be donated to a charity of one's choice.
