Nancy Abbey Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 30, 2025.
Mrs. Nancy Colleen Abbey (Gaffey) passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on October 25, 2025, in Lake Mary, Florida at the age of 77. Nancy is survived by her husband, John Abbey of Winter Park, Florida; her daughter Alicia Abbey, and grandson, Clyde (CJ) Bell IV of Casselberry, Florida; and her son, Brendan Abbey (Anna) of Winter Park, Florida.
Nancy was born on February 28, 1948, in Warren, Ohio to James Robert and Catherine Mary Gaffey. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1966 and attended St. Francis College. In 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, John Robert Abbey, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love.
Early in her career, Nancy was blessed to work alongside her father before moving with John to Winter Park, Florida. She began working as a bookkeeper for Creative Accents, later at Apenberry's. In her golden years, she found great joy serving as a teaching assistant at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, where she spent 10 wonderful years shaping lives and forming friendships.
Nancy's greatest pride and joy were her children and grandson - and she eagerly awaited the arrival of her granddaughter-to-be. Ever selfless, Nancy made sacrifices for the benefit of her family with a heart that knew no limits. She will be remembered for her kindness, steadfast faith, and the deep love she shared with all who were fortunate to know her.
A funeral is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4th, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with a reception to follow. Fr. Richard Walsh will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nancy's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church or Morning Star Catholic School. Condolences can be sent to 706 Denton Rd. Winter Park, FL 32792.
