Nancy Elizabeth Ackerman, born on July 23, 1954, in Easton, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on July 8, 2025, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, leaving a legacy filled with warmth, compassion, and dedication.
A graduate of Easton Area High School, Nancy pursued her passion for education and earned her BA degree from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. Her career as the owner/operator of Nana's Family Home Day Care spanned over four decades, during which she enriched the lives of countless children and families before retiring in 2022. Her nurturing spirit and genuine love for children left an indelible mark on her community.
Nancy was a devoted mother and grandmother, cherishing her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Chad Douglas Ackerman, and his wife, Kristin, along with her daughter, Maya Elga Wyndy, and Maya’s partner, Jully. Her grandchildren, Ashlynn Harper Ackerman and Evangeline "Eva" Ann Ackerman, were the lights of her life, and she treasured every moment with them.
In addition to her immediate family, Nancy is also survived by many cousins who were an integral part of her life, sharing memories and laughter that will remain in their hearts.
Nancy's love for life extended beyond her family. She found joy in gardening, where she cultivated beauty and tranquility around her. Reading offered her escape and adventure, while playing the piano allowed her to express her innermost feelings and bring joy to others through music.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed raising and caring for shelties and tuxedo cats. She is survived by her cat Lucy “Ms. Lucy Kitty” who has been welcomed into the home of Maya and her pet family.
A devoted member of her community, Nancy was also an active participant in her church, attending services where her faith flourished. She touched many lives with her kindness and generous heart, offering a listening ear and support to those around her.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Douglas Harding Purdy, her mother, Virginia Mason Wysor Purdy, her sister, Carol Grace Purdy, and her brother, Garvin Wysor Purdy. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.
A visitation will be held on July 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Morrisville Presbyterian Church Lounge, located at 771 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Morrisville, PA 19067. A memorial service will follow in the church from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. She will be interred in the Historic Easton Cemetery at a later date.
Nancy Elizabeth Ackerman's light will continue to shine in the memories of all she has touched. She will remain an everlasting source of love and inspiration, guiding us through the days ahead with her spirit ever-present among us.
The family requests that you consider making a memorial contribution, in Nancy's name, to the Morrisville Presbyterian Church at the above address, or to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
