Nancy (Allaire) Bachand

HAYDENVILLE, MA - Nancy Allaire Bachand passed away June 11, 2025, peacefully at her home in Haydenville with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born November 7, 1935, in Northampton to Wilfred and Madeline (Barrett) Allaire. Her early school years were spent in Haydenville. She moved to Stamford, Connecticut, where she attended Stamford high school and worked for Speidel Corp. and the telephone company in Stamford. After returning to Haydenville, she continued working for the phone company and then for many years worked for Spring Action in Easthampton until retirement. Sixty-nine years ago, June 2, 1956, she and Bernard Bachand were married in St. Mary's Church, Haydenville. Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Bernie of Haydenville and their daughter, Patsy of Holyoke. Nancy is also survived by many nieces and nephews. To treasure her memory, Nancy leaves a special niece and goddaughter Sandy (Kopka) Benza (Gery) of Naples, Florida and special godson and great nephew Sean Smith of Los Angeles, California. She leaves another niece, Mary Ann Farrow Smith (Howard) of Manteno, Illinois, who lived with Nancy and Bernie during her high school years. Nancy is preceded in death by her son, Michael Bachand, parents Madeline (Barrett) and Wilfred Allaire, brothers Wilfred and Raymond Allaire, sisters Mildred Farrow, Marion Allaire and Theresa Kamyk. Special in her life were Charlotte and Walter Bachand-her mother and father-in-law who always treated her as their own daughter. Nancy was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Hills Parish in Haydenville where she was a member of the Women's Altar Society. She always enjoyed working with elderly, driving them to doctor appointments, cleaning their homes and being a companion. Calling hours for Nancy will be Sunday, June 15, 2025, at AHEARN FUNERAL HOME from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 8:45 A.M. from AHEARN FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial for Nancy at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Hills Church, Haydenville. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leeds. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cooley Dickinson Hospice or a charity of their choice.
