Nancy Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Soller-Baker Funeral Homes, Inc. – Lafayette Chapel on Jan. 7, 2026.
Written by Nancy Baker, herself:

Nancy S (Yoder) Baker, formerly of Lafayette, passed away in Wabash, IN, on January 5, 2026. Born March 13, 1961, to Dane & Bea (Harner) Yoder. The youngest of 4 daughters, Nancy grew up never having to say a word! Sunday afternoons were spent singing harmony around the piano with extended family. Great memories of learning to read music in Sunday School, taking piano lessons from local legend Jennette Gibson, and playing trombone with her buddy Mark! Open to most types of music; her favorite was Sting!

Nancy married James Roberts (decd), divorcing after 22 years. They had 2 daughters: Nicki & Krissy. These ladies turned out quite nice, despite their parents! Witty like their dad & sweet like their mom!

She later married Mark Baker; they divorced but remained good friends!

Working for the City of Lafayette, Street & Sanitation (snowplows, potholes, trash pickup, etc.), as a Dispatcher, she was Lafayette's Official Trash Talker! Good times with wonderful folks! Her Mom was so proud!

She leaves behind:

2 daughters; Nichole Bolinger of Rossville, IN, Kristin Cunningham (Ryan) of Wabash, IN.

4 Grandchildren; Ella Cunningham, Nash Cunningham, Tagg Bolinger, & Amelia Cunningham.

3 Sisters; Cyndy Shafer (Jerry) Lafayette, Gail Biss (Mel) Lafayette, Debbie Kappes (Stan) Monticello.

Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Predeceased along with her parents is Grandson, Colton Bolinger.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1:30 pm until the time of the service at 2:30 pm at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN. A live stream of the service will be available on Nancys obituary page at soller-baker.com. Interment will be at Fairhaven Cemetery in Mulberry, IN.

I am so sorry to hear this. Met Nancy and her sisters thru their mother. Nancy was so sweet and caring. Loved getting to know you. Praying for the family thru this very difficult time of grieving.

Krissy and Nicki - I am sorry to learn of Nancy's death. I have many good memories of her; I know you have a lot more. Nancy was one of the friendliest people I've ever met. She undoubtedly brought a lot of joy to the world and will be missed by many people. Take care of yourselves and your families!

Nancy was a great lady like the rest of her family. I met Nancy in the 90´s and enjoyed knowing her. She was so much fun to be around her. I talked to her yearly when I called to have her have the city pick up our tree limbs. Did miss her this year but was hoping she was on vacation. Nancy rest in peace will be missed by so many
