Nancy Bigelow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Jennings-Lyons Chapel - Owosso on Jan. 26, 2024.
Age 83, of Owosso, born Jan. 7, 1941, peacefully left this world Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024. The daughter of the late Alva Ray and Eleanor Isabelle (Mesler) Silvers.
She attended Ashley Public Schools, and later went on to graduate from Corunna Public Schools at age 50. She earned a scholarship from Mott Community College but chose to attend LCC. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader with Pack 240. Nancy worked with Corunna Area Ambulance Service, but her greatest job of all was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and nanny to many children (and their parents). Her passion was writing poetry leaving her memories to her children and grandchildren through almost 50 stories of her childhood. She was inspired to write poetry and short stories by her teachers Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Kamm. They truly left an impact on her life.
On July 13, 1960, Nancy embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship when she married Leonard Jay Bigelow at Owosso United Pentecostal Church in the basement, and she was proud to be the first couple married there. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2007.
Nancy was a remarkable woman, a devoted wife, and a loving mother, mommy, grandmother, mee-maw, grams, dahma, great grams, and recently great-great grandmother. Her kindness and warmth touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was the heart of her family, creating a home filled with love, understanding, and unwavering support.
Nancy is survived by her five cherished children, each a testament to the love and devotion she poured into her family -Timothy J. Bigelow (girlfriend Christeen), Heidi R. Bigelow, Aaron R. Bigelow (wife Chris), Bethel L. Numerick (husband Eugene), and Marcia M. Arpin (husband John). She was blessed with a bonus son Shawn R. Stover (fiancée Lillyanna).
As a grandmother, she leaves behind a profound impact, and her memory will forever live on in her grandchildren's hearts. Her legacy extends through the generations, as she leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of family that includes Erin R. (Numerick) and Erik Willard; Shawna J. Stover; Billy Thompson, Robert E. and Samantha Numerick; Cheyanne J. (Stover) and Danny Fernandez; Nathaniel J. and Michelle (Mimi) Bigelow; Harley Zaida (Haines) and Justus Severns; Laszlo X. Arpin; great-grandchildren Drake J. Thompson (Hannah), Raven R. (Thompson) and Ray Chastain; River M. Numerick; Macy G. Numerick; Parker L. Willard; Aria J. Bigelow; Zarina Fernandez, Ellianna J. Bigelow; Juliette N. Willard; Aiden R. Willard; and great-great-grandson Ezekiel R. Chastain.
She is also survived by her brother Thomas G. Silvers; sister-in-law Maggie; brother and sister-in-law Orville and Santiaga (Lopez) Bigelow; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy was a caregiver and was loved by her "special" grandchildren Mariha, Kim, Desirea, Stefanie, Joel, Jennifer, AdaLynn, Krista, Emma, Ellis, Isaiah, Eli, and Alayna.
They will never truly know the joy they brought to her world. Being able to love and care for them was everything to her. Jennifer and AdaLynn spent many days and nights surrounding her with love and comfort and for that we are so grateful.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brothers Raymond and Richard Silvers, sister, best friend Sandra K. Fritz, grandson Martin Vankuiken, granddaughter Tiffany L. (Bigelow) Thompson, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
A memorial service to honor Nancy will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at The United Pentecostal Church of Owosso with the Rev. Joey McKinnies officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to say a very heartfelt "Thank You" to the staff at Pleasant View.
The family is being served by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Jennins-Lyons Chapel. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com
