Nancy Anne Bredemeier – Nancy, 81 of
Celina, Ohio, passed peacefully with her children by her side at 2 P.M. on September 4, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Nancy was born November 11, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to William ("Bill") Oscar and Eleanor "Anne" (Johnson) Alexander. She is survived by her loving children Angela McLaughlin of Celina, Steven (Pam) Bredemeier of Columbus, four grandchildren Connor McLaughlin, Erin (Charlie) Duble, Ethan (Meg) Bredemeier, and Henry (Kate) Bredemeier, and her sister-in-law Nancy (Nudd) Bredemeier. Nancy graduated from Plainfield High School with the class of 1961. She became a member of Tri Kappa sorority, an Indiana service organization, following in the footsteps of her mom and grandmother. She met her husband of 56 years, David Wayne Bredemeier, at Purdue University where she graduated with a BA in Education. The couple married on June 12, 1965. Dave preceded her in death on July 24, 2021. The couple raised two children, Angie and Steve, primarily in
Celina, Ohio, in the same home Nancy was living in at the time of her passing. Nancy enjoyed traveling with Dave and other family and friends. Sometimes this was far, such as the Danube River or Alaska. Closer to home she enjoyed showing her grandchildren her hometowns of Indianapolis and Plainfield, Indiana, as well as visiting her grandchildren and sharing in their major life milestones. Nancy also had a passion for history and politics and did her part for the election process by working at the local polling location for many years. Nancy taught by example the importance of lifelong friendships. Nancy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for 50 years. At "the Purple Door Church," she was involved for many years with the sewing circle, creating quilts to be sent all over the world, and contributed to youth events. Nancy played a number of card games, especially euchre with family and bridge with her regular bridge group which she continued to host in 2025. She liked music, tinkering on the piano and in her younger days playing the ukulele. Nancy loved going to the movie theater as a kid, watching old movies on her iPad more recently, and introducing them to her children and grandchildren. Nancy had great skills as a hostess and prepared wonderful meals for family and friends. Nancy had a friend group of 10-15 ladies that met monthly for lunch for nearly 40 years. This group of women supported each other through all of life's celebrations and hardships. As mentioned, Nancy's favorite role was Nana to Connor, Erin (Charlie), Ethan (Meg), and Henry (Kate). She treasured every moment, holiday, graduation, and phone call with each of them. She lovingly created t-shirt quilts for each as they graduated high school. Along with her husband Dave, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Alexander, parents Bill and Eleanor, her brother in-law Richard ("Dick") Bredemeier, and granddaughter Samantha Bredemeier. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Celina, with Minister Mary Miller officiating. Burial will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the Adams Lutheran Cemetery, 9733 N. Adams Church Rd., Batesville, IN 47006, with Pastor Mark Booster conducting committal services. Friends and family may call from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Celina. Memorial contributions may be made out to the St. John Builders 1100 N. Main St.
