Gerhart "Gary" Bredemeier
January 13, 1946 - January 20, 2024
Gerhart Dean "Gary" Bredemeier, 78, of rural Steinauer, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his home. He was born to Edwin and Viola (Borcher) Bredemeier on January 13, 1946 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at the Salem U.C.C., Steinauer, where he was a life-long member. He graduated from Lewiston High School. Gary served his country in the Army Reserves.
He entered into marriage on April 1, 1981 to Dianna Packett at the Salem U.C.C. with Pastor Ken Tubbesing officiating. They were later divorced. From that union, Gary was blessed with three children, Chris, David and Jenni.
Gary lived within a 20-mile radius his entire life. He was a long-time farmer. In 2001, he also began employment at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institute-TSCI, where he worked until he retired in 2010. Farming was his first love and he farmed for 61 harvests on the original farm. Gary sold NC+ seed, called in the rain report for 99.5 radio and collected Case tractors and memorabilia. Gary served as a secretary for the Farmer's Union Co-op Fuel Board in Beatrice, Past President of the Lewiston School Board and past treasurer of the Salem U.C.C. Church, Steinauer. He enjoyed Husker Athletics, Royals Baseball and NASCAR Sundays.
He is survived by his children, Chris Bredemeier (Rae Lynne) of Virginia, David Bredemeier (Deziree') of Filley and Jenni Koenen (Luke) of Diller, grandchildren, Caleb, Elijah and Ansley Bredemeier, Bree and Brewer Bredemeier and Fredric Koenen, sister Janet Coudeyras of Burchard, brother Roger Bredemeier (Cindy) of CO, nieces and nephews, Kevin (Cyndee) Coudeyras, Kent (Stephanie) Coudeyras, Amy Rasco (Stuart) and Ryan Bredemeier and aunt Jeannine Kamen.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Don Coudeyras, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Salem U.C.C., rural Steinauer, with Pastors Ken Tubbesing and John Snyder officiating. The service will also be livestreamed on the Wherry Mortuary Facebook page. Visitation will be held from 9-8, with family, 5-7 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 1, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, NE. Memorials may go to the Salem U.C.C. Inurnment will be in the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery, rural Steinauer, Nebraska with military honors by the Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Services are entrusted to Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, NE.
