Nancy Bridgewater Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Home - Austin on Dec. 9, 2025.
Nancy Bridgewater, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 66 on December 6, 2025, at Norton's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on June 18, 1959, in Scottsburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Harold Gene Bridgewater and Betty (Smith) Bridgewater, both of whom predeceased her. Nancy's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her service to her country, and her unwavering work ethic.
After completing her education, Nancy proudly served in the United States Air Force, where she demonstrated her commitment to her country and the values she held dear.
Following her military service, Nancy returned to her roots in Scottsburg, Indiana, where she became a well-respected employee of Goodin's Wrecker Service. Her meticulous nature and proficiency with numbers led her to also serve as a bookkeeper for St. Joseph's Children's Home. In both roles, Nancy was known for her reliability, her attention to detail, and her willingness to go above and beyond for those she worked with.
Nancy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, who remember her as a loving and supportive presence. She is survived by her brothers, Bruce (Jene) Bridgewater and John (Lisa) Bridgewater, both of Scottsburg, Indiana. Her nieces and nephews, Baylie (Anthony) Neff, Steven Bridgewater, Matt and Allison Bridgewater, Alec (Casey) Bridgewater, and Ben (Alaina) Sebastian, will fondly recall her encouragement and pride in their achievements. Nancy's great-nieces and great-nephews, Oaklynn and Lenna Bridgewater, Marley and Lincoln Sebastian, Addison Eldridge, Ella and Aislynn Neff, and Sophie Bransletter, will cherish the memories of their great-aunt's love and the joy she brought to family gatherings.
A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive Nancy, each with their own treasured memories of her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering support.
In accordance with Nancy's wishes, direct cremation was chosen. There will be no services or visitation, allowing her loved ones to honor her memory in personal reflection and in the carrying forward of the values she embodied.
