Nancy J. Buckwalter, 93, of Lititz, PA, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at Pleasant View Communities. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Josie E. Buckwalter. Born in Manheim to Charles and Emma Hershey, Nancy was one of seven daughters.
Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her life on the farm and found great joy in gardening, canning, freezing, baking, cooking and entertaining family and friends.
A dedicated member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, Nancy served as a deacon, greeter, and also baked bread for communion services. She was also active in Farm Women Society #26 and enjoyed contributing her time to the Manheim Farm Show. After raising her children, she volunteered for many years as a Gray Lady at Lancaster General Hospital. Nancy and her husband Joe were longtime members of Bent Creek Country Club.
Above all, Nancy was a faithful servant of God. She loved her family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them.
Nancy is survived by her five children: Patsy Pugliese (Mario) of Ocean View, DE; Margaret Deihm of Lancaster, PA; Edward Buckwalter (Joy) of Lititz, PA; Michael Buckwalter (Cathy) of Marietta, PA; and Barbara Williams (Bruce) of Gibsonia, PA; 17 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Mildred (Richard) Hammer of Raleigh, NC; Mary Lou (John) Shirk; Phyllis (Richard) Hurst; and Evelyn (Larry) Gibble. She was preceded in death by two sisters Joanne (Wayne) Ober and Gloria Hershey and an infant brother Jacob Charles Hershey.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Avenue, Lancaster on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 11:30 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nancy’s memory may be made to the Lancaster Church of the Brethen. To send the family on-line condolences, please visit: www.BuchFuneral.com
