Obituary of Nancy Ann (Carroll) Burns
Mrs. Nancy Ann (Carroll) Burns, 93, a resident of the Masonic Care Community in Utica, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the nursing home.
Nancy was born in Utica, on September 25, 1930, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Kolmus) Carroll. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On July 18, 1953, Nancy was united in marriage with Arthur W. "Speedy" Burns, Jr. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of almost 62 years, until Arthur's death in 2015. At one time, Nancy was employed with Utica Mutual Insurance Company and later as a reading aide with the Utica City School District. Nancy enjoyed bowling, gardening and reading. She was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica, a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Perpetual Adoration Society, as well as being a devoted volunteer with the American Red Cross and the Soup Kitchen at Grace Church in Utica.
Mrs. Burns is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Joshua Stiles of Wellfleet, MA; two sons, Michael Burns of Charlotte, NC and Arthur W. Burns, III of Utica; four cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Laveck and her husband Chris of Westmoreland, NY, Theresa Antonelli and her husband Jordan of Chittenango, NY, Curtis Stiles and his wife Hillary Sims of Princeton, NJ and Katherine Stiles of Princeton, NJ as well as 8 adored great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Arthur, Nancy was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Youngdale and Norma Clark of and one brother, William Carroll.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Nancy's funeral service on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Arthur in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.
