Nancy Bussean
Nancy Bussean, 80, of Mokena, passed away on August 12, 2025. She was born on August 12, 1945.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Fred Bussean; her children, Jennifer (Joe) Brandon and Tim (Karen) Bussean; siblings, Jim (Debra) Doolan and Bev (the late John) Grande; grandchildren, Allie (Justin) Hedman, Jack Lundquist, Emma Lundquist, Liv Bussean, Logan Brandon, Mike Bussean, and Lily Brandon; and one great-granddaughter, Margo Hedman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Gladys Doolan; siblings, Thomas Doolan and Connie Outman; and her favorite golden retriever, Muffitt, a former seeing-eye dog and beloved family companion.
Nancy's life was filled with love, beauty, and dedication. She received the Lifetime Beautification Award for her flower beds in Mokena in 2014 and continued tending them with pride every year since. She was deeply passionate about her gardens and her family, with her greatest joy being her role as a mom and grama. She spent a lifetime camping, traveling to nearly every state with her loved ones.
Nancy met Fred in high school, and as they say, the rest was history. The day they returned from their honeymoon in Springfield, Illinois, Fred was drafted into service. Though life took them to various places, they always stayed close to the Mokena area, where they raised their children and built a home filled with love.
In her final days, Nancy expressed that she had lived a wonderful life and was ready for her next chapter. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, and the beauty she brought to the world-both in her gardens and in the hearts of those who knew her.
