Nancy J. Byerly, 74, of Canal Fulton, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Born January 3, 1952, to the late Samuel and Ruby (Thompson) Daiger, Nancy dedicated 40 years of service as a registered nurse at Aultman Hospital before retiring.
Faith and family were the cornerstones of Nancy’s life. A devout Christian, she loved studying the Bible and deepening her understanding of Christianity. She volunteered at the S.A.L.T. Box Ministries Food Pantry, participated in a weekly women’s Bible study, and traveled to Honduras a few times on medical services trips.
An original Trekkie, she delighted in science fiction and the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, especially The Lord of the Rings. She had a lifelong affection for Mickey Mouse and a special fondness for owls. Above all, Nancy cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them.
After the passing of her daughter Stacey, Nancy lovingly adopted her grandsons, Sam and Brennan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacey Byerly; and her brother, Samuel Daiger Jr. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Kerschie Byerly; and grandsons, Sam and Brennan Byerly.
Visitation will be held SUNDAY, January 11, 2026, 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 Cherry St. E. (Rt. 93) Canal Fulton. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4pm. The family will hold a private interment of ashes at Canal Fulton Cemetery at a later date.
