Nancy Calohan Obituary
October 31, 1931 - July 19, 2022
We have lost an angel. Daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and mentor to many, Nancy Wooldridge Calohan died on July 19, 2022, at her home. Daughter of William Howard Wooldridge and May Isaacs Wooldridge, Nancy was born on October 31, 1931, in Campbell County, Virginia. She was our favorite Halloween witch.
Nancy graduated from Rustburg High School. At Longwood University she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Touching many people in a career of thirty years, she taught at Rustburg Elementary, Fort Hill Elementary and Yellow Branch Elementary. She often said, "When you teach the grandchildren of people you taught, it is time to retire".
Nancy was a member of Whites United Methodist Church. In her younger years, she directed the children's choir and sang in the adult choir.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, William Earl Calohan Jr.; her parents, her sisters, Allie W. West and Doris W. Roach, and her son-in-law, David M. Cardwell Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, William E. Calohan, III and his wife, Anne, Deborah C. Cardwell, Lawrence H. Calohan, and Andrew A. Calohan and his wife, Marsha. She was "Nanaw" to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. John MacNeill Jr. and the staff of the Pearson Cancer Center, Centra Hospice and especially Marie Fitzgerald for their wonderful care.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory, 427 Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to White's United Methodist Church, 513 English Tavern Road, Rustburg, VA 24588 or a charity of your choice.

Debbie, Carrington, and family, I thought the world of Nancy. She taught my son at Yellow Branch. She was intelligent, loving, and always fair. Such a wonderful lady. Hoping your wonderful memories will bring comfort to you all.

I´m so sorry to hear about Mrs. Calohan´s passing. She was my 1st grade teacher and my favorite teacher. I still remember her holding me on her lap when I got hurt at school. She touched so many young lives and so many people were blessed to have known her.

Although I did not know her, I know she was a wonderful mother who raised great children. I taught Deborah, Larry and Andy at Rustburg. Some of my favorite students. I´m very sorry for your loss.
