Gastonia – Nancy Baucom Carpenter, 94, went home to be with her Lord on January 11, 2025 at Peak Resources surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gaston County on April 9, 1930 to the late Hiram Baucom and Virginia Barnes Baucom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 71 years, Joe Leonard Carpenter; her son, Robert Russell “Rusty” Carpenter; her siblings, Theodore, James Henry, Hiram Jr, Bruce Baucom, Rachel Smith, Sara Stroupe, Betty McCurry, and Sheila Baucom.
Nancy loved the Lord and her church family at Fraley Memorial Baptist, where she was a member. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially at Sunday dinner’s. She also enjoyed canning and working in her garden.
Left to cherish her memories includes her loving and devoted children, David (Cindy) Carpenter; and Cindy (Rodney) Self, daughter-in-law, Teruyo Carpenter; her wonderful grandchildren, Wendy, Robin, Lauren, Chastity and Shannon; two great granddaughters, Haley and Merissa; and a great-great grandson, Holden; special niece, Dawn Thompson, and grand dog, Maggie.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17th prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 17th at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church, 3025 Fraley Church Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054 with Reverend Charles Keller officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fraley Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 775, Lowell, NC 28098.
