CARTER, Nancy Jane- age 92 of Commerce Township, passed away, October 31, 2025. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian, 5171 Commerce Rd, Orchard Lake Village with Rev. Dr. Richard Lapehn officiating. Visitation 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Thursday at the church. Interment will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, November 7, 2025, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions would be appreciated to Leader Dogs for the Blind in Nancy's memory.
Nancy was born February 8, 1933, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Max Walter and Lois Louise (Davis) Goodenough. She married Ronald West Carter in Lima, Ohio on October 25, 1952. Nancy graduated from Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio. She worked various jobs before starting her family. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother. Nancy and Ron were long-time members of Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian and she served as secretary, retiring after 25 years. Nancy was instrumental in bringing Community Bible Study to Orchard Lake Church and was the first Teaching Director for many years. Nancy and Ron also served together in Stephen Ministry through the church, and chaperoned the Blizzards Ski Club of Walled Lake at Alpine Valley. She was an avid downhill and cross-country skier, enjoyed golf, and was an excellent artist, seamstress, and baker. She made the "best chocolate peanut butter fudge!"Nancy is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Brad) Sjoholm, and Princess Fuller; son-in-law, Bill Fuller; four grandchildren, Clint West Carter, Nichole Carter, Matthew (Bailey) Sjoholm, and Grayson Sjoholm; great grandson, Zander West Carter.
