The color red represents heightened emotion, strength, power, is never boring and backs down from a battle only when it is her choice. It is a force with great stamina.
We lost our force this week. Nancy (Red) Lee Chaltry went to Heaven very late Monday, February 19th, 2024 after a battle that she decided she would concede to, Cancer. Nancy worked at Badger Paper in Peshtigo for 35 years and after retirement decided she needed to work at least part time. Wanting a position that would keep her strong, she accepted a position working as a custodian at Peshtigo schools where, because of her love for the children, she remained throughout her battle until she could no longer walk. She also received an Associate Degree from NWTC in Marinette.
She was a mom who loved her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren more than anything on this earth. She was a dedicated and loving sister to 5 siblings and many beloved friends. She was a golfer. She was a hard worker. She lived for God, her family, and her friends. She was an artist who would adorn every holiday and home with a skill matched by few.
Nancy was born to Michael and Eileen (Anderson) Weber December 2, 1951 in Menominee, MI. She was married to the love of her life, Larry Chaltry, for 32 years until her heart broke when he died in 2014.
She is survived by her son, Larry Zimmerman (Kim) of Howell, Michigan, her grandchildren, Ainsleigh, Macklin, Arden, Charlie and Tommy, her three sisters, Diana (Dr. Edward) Osypowski, Sally Hasenfus, Sylvia (Keith) Casselbury, her brother-in-law, Eugene Hasenfus, her Goddaughter, Sarah Jean Hasenfus and her sisters-in-law, Darlene, Pat, Danita and Vicky. Besides Nancy's husband and parents, her sister, Natalie Zillmer, brother, Michael Weber, parents-in-law William and Irene (Guber) Chaltry, brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard, Adrian, William and John Chaltry and Dale Nessinger and sister-in-law, Jean predeceased her.
We may have lost our force from this earth - but she will be forever in our hearts. We look forward to seeing her again in Heaven where we believe she is no longer struggling to breathe and is probably playing golf with Larry, Mom and Dad.
Nancy's family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00 until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. celebrating her magnificent life at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 5541 Birch Creek Road, Birch Creek, MI.
We would like to thank Father Abraham Mupparathara for visiting Nancy while in the hospital and at home. We would like to thank Nancy's special friends Mary Garrigan, Mary Brey, Iris De Lorme and all of her lifelong friends who meant so much to her. Nancy was given so much love and care from Diana White, Chaplin Timothy Gunderson, Cassie Emmer, Amy Hoida, Clara Longlais and Jasmine Cottelit from Hospice. We would also like to thank Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home for their caring and professional guidance assisting our family with arrangements.
