Nancy Clayton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lakes Funeral Home on Feb. 17, 2026.
Nancy Katherine Clayton passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Berea, Kentucky, at the age of 89. She was born on April 11, 1936, in Peoria, Illinois, to Harold Ray and Vernice Mildred Langenbach.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her devoted husband, James Gilbert Clayton, and her brother, Raymond "Skip" Langenbach. Her legacy continues through her children, Shawn (Darla) Clayton and Brian (Loretta) Clayton, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Nancy's spirit will also live on through her adoring grandchildren, Valerie (Jason) Woodall, Ryan (Brandy) Maples, Jason (Brandi) Clayton, and Katherine (Daniel Laine) Clayton, as well as her great-grandchildren, Amyiah, Nathanial, and Adarius Laine, Alyssa and Karter Clayton, Ezekiel Woodall, Bryant, Rylan, and Braylan Maples.

Nancy's professional life was marked by her tenure at Rite Aid, during which she retired after years of dedicated service.

A devout member of Church on the Rock, Nancy's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found great joy in participating in church activities. However, it was her family, particularly her grandchildren, that was her favorite pastime. The moments spent surrounded by their laughter and love were the ones she cherished most deeply.

Visitation will be on Friday evening from 6- 8 pm at Lakes Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 2 pm at Berea Cemetery with Pastor Mark Sarver officiating. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
