Nancy Luisa Clemente passed away on October 3, 2025 at the age of 85. Nancy was born on January 31, 1940, in Caibarién, Las Villas, Cuba to the late Atanasio de Jesus Parra and Acela (Viera) Parra. She was predeceased by her husband, Clemente A. Clemente.
The youngest of 11 children, she emigrated to the United States in December of 1961 and was later married to her love, Clemente A. Clemente, for 35 years. Together they built a successful jewelry and home goods business while raising a family.
Nancy was feisty and fiercely independent. You could count on her for advice or an opinion, whether you liked it or not She was a fighter and encouraged you to move forward always. When facing a challenge, she would tell us, "Pa' tras, ni pa' coger impulso," which translates to keep moving forward and don't step back even to get a running start. Between her and her sister, Gladys Turner, they cemented our family's legacy by sponsoring and bringing our family from Cuba to the United States to pursue freedom and opportunity.
She passed peacefully surrounded by family and is survived by her children, Frank Clemente, Maylyn Guillory, Karen Clemente Ortiz, Huben Clemente, and her adoptive son, H. Lynn McGhee; her grandchildren, Crystal Moronez, Jaclyn Avellan, Christian Serrano, Aaron Serrano, and Shae Anderson-Jourde; and her great-grandchildren, Julian Avellan, Arthur Serrano, Amelie Jourde, Kieran Jourde, David Moronez, and Ethan Moronez.
